Hello and welcome to Cottage Grove House.
You will find lots of savory pie and pasta recipes here as well as a few lightly sweetened cakes and crumbles. Most everything I cook is from ingredients found in their simplest, natural organic state.
“You don’t have to cook fancy or complicated masterpieces – just good food from fresh ingredients.” -Julia Child
We all have rituals in our lives we love and by nature make them happen. Without thought or plan these moments naturally fall into place. It is a recurring event permanently marked on our minds daily calendar. My dearest ritual is dinnertime. Every evening we gather around our table to sit down, share a meal together and nourish ourselves. This tradition has become such a valued part of our lives. The conversation flows naturally and we are able to slow down and breathe. As a busy family of three nothing is more important than these little moments of sharing our thoughts and experiences and to hear the young man of the house (he’s 17) articulate and form his opinions while he is trying to make his way in the world.

Thank you for following my blog. I enjoy reading yours.
Seana – where have you gone? Missing your posts and you. Hope all is well. ;)
HI Lindy. You are so kind to send me a message! Work has been crazy busy for the past month and I sort of lost steam with posting and visiting. :( Thank you so much, now I’m feeling encouraged to get back into the swing of it. I’ll be back soon. I actually started a draft a few days ago. Admittedly, I have the blog as my homepage and I’m getting tired of looking at the bacon, lettuce & tomato pasta photograph! Hope you are well too. Thanks again for the encouragement and I’ll stop in to see what you have been up to. xo Seana
So happy to see you back Seana. Am glad it was just a case of being busy. I woke up a couple of times – thinking – how would I ever know if something was wrong? You live at the other side of the continent but you’re not all that far from my heart (or my chalkboard menu). xo
Thanks so much for the follow. I am looking forward to checking out your site!
I too share your dinnertime ritual – so nice to find someone with a similiar philosophy. Looking forwards to following you…
Seana, I hope all is well! I miss your lovely dishes. I hope you are just too busy, I would hate to think anything is wrong. HUGS!
You are too kind! Thank you so much for the little message. I have been extremely busy these days and also by the time I am in the kitchen cooking it’s dark outside and forget about taking photo’s. I am really looking forward to posting again and have a few dishes that I would love to share. I’ll have to stop in and see what you have been cooking. Your comment has encouraged me! Thank you. :)
I thought of you today Seana when I met a lovely couple from Seattle in a bar. I hope all is well at your end and that it’s from choice that your’re not posting.. I miss you!
Oh how cool that met folks from Seattle! That’s wonderful. It is so nice of you to send me a message Sandra, thank you so much! All is very well here, I’ll be back to sharing once again soon. I guess I’m just taking a little break, sort of like the sun. :) Looking forward to diving back in though! Thank you again for saying hi!

Do you post on Instagram? :-)
Hi Shanna! Haven’t heard from you in quite awhile. Nice to see you here today. I don’t have an instagram. Don’t know why…just haven’t gone there yet. :) Thank you for stopping in, I have a ton of blog catch-up to do.
Instagram: do it. It’s all from your phone. I would love to see your foodie finds! I had a baby, we were both a little sick but better now. Lots of veggies on the instagram account / Facebook; my lastest sweet treats on the blog. So, Seana is your nickname, what is your real name?
Congratulations on your new baby! I’ll look into Instagram. :) Actually Seana is my real name. It’s pronounced Shawna. I’ll stop in for a visit Shanna, I’d love to see photo’s of your new baby.
Thank you for following my blog, look forward to catching up on yours!
And thank you for visiting mine! :) Look forward to your posts.

Hi Seana, I found your beautiful blog through TDPC. Your food looks very tasty and colorful!
Hi Stefan. Thank you very much for stopping in! Isn’t TDPC a lovely concept? Interesting you stopped in because just the other day your name came up in a conversation with Conor. He recommended visiting your blog to find out more about sous vide. He said you are the sous vide king and you have a great instructional section on your site. :)
Conor is too kind, but there is a lot of sous-vide stuff on my blog. I haven’t noticed anything on sous-vide on your blog yet. Do you own the equipment?
No I don’t and to be honest I only learned about sous vide recently. Very intrigued.
I’ve been using sous-vide on a very regular basis for over 4 years now and it is quite amazing. Now that the prices have come down, it becomes more and more accessible.
